How web designers collaborate successfully with clients

In the vastness of the Internet, there are now many platforms where creative minds and web designers come together and present their designs.

Above all, it is exciting when classic designs (such as those known from typical WordPress templates) are distanced and completely new design approaches to a website are presented that have never been seen before and that have been solved much more intelligently than one is used to from standard websites, especially from the perspective of the website visitor.

Browsing these platforms and looking at different website layouts from different designers from all over the world is a lot of fun and incredibly enriching for future website projects that you plan or create yourself. Often, ideas for new layouts become worlds better if you look at the works of other designers beforehand.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a web designer yourself or want to commission a new website as a customer: If you know what you want and already have a picture in mind, what the new website should look like and what purpose it serves, you have a clear advantage.

10 Unique Sources for New Website Inspiration

Screenshot of Call To Idea’s website (as of January 2021)

Calltoidea is different from all previous sources of inspiration. Here you can initially select a special website element (e.g. navigation, slider, footer, 404 page, etc.) and based on this you will be suggested inspirations only for this element.

Very useful if the layout of the website is already fixed, but you still doubt what certain recurring elements (e.g. forms & pricing tables) should look like. It is a bit of a shame that the number of results is still limited at Calltoidea.

Social media and other sources

Of course, it’s always worth following well-known web designers and social media accounts that regularly post designs, especially on Instagram. Here you can always collect and save new inspiration (archive) and get it directly into your feed every day.

These accounts are particularly recommended for website inspiration:

The following hashtags on Instagram should also not be missed:

  • #webdesign
  • #webdesigntrends
  • #webdesigninspiration
  • #webdesigner
  • #uxdesign
  • #uidesign

In addition, it also makes sense to do your own research and take a closer look at the portfolios of well-known web designers and agencies if you can find time for it.
